Week 9 Reflection and Activities

During Week 9, we learnt on how to do background noise reduction and reduce any noise such as breathing and stuttering noises from the narrator or announcer. I was taught that most audio or voice only audio are supposed to not have any additional noise, and these audios are usually used in amusement park audios or advertisement announcers in stores.

I was allowed to use the audio equipment available in Taylors to record the audio for our weekly exercise. I was assigned as the assistant to determine if the audio was audible and clear enough so only a few edits and noise reduction is needed.

After the testing was done, I got the audio file sample to use to do my weekly activity.

Figure 9.2 : The audio files used

The audio files I used are the sample file we recorded, the background music relating to a car advertisement, some echoes and some car sound effects. I also added full reverb for the echoes so that it does sound more realistic as an advertisement and entices the user to either visit the website or check out the cars being promoted.

The main thing is to reduce background noises with deNoise function by taking background sound sample and lowering it low enough while allowing the original audio to be heard clearly still. If there are no important audio in between some audios and there are slight ambience noises, I can select the ambience noises and lower their volume until they cannot be heard.
