Week 10 & 11 Reflection and Activities
For these 2 weeks, I was tasked to prepare to finish up and submit my second assignment. The second assignment involves us narrating a story for a fairytale. The main goal of this assignment is to lecture us on how to deNoise audio that are not cleaned. This refers to audio that have slight breathing sound of audio with unwanted background noises.
Audio preperation:
The audio I prepared involves me narrating the story. I have chosen little red riding hood as the fairytale story. Since there is a female character called little red riding hood, which is a female character. I have invited one of my friend from another college to help me voice act for this project as well.
The audio is prepared by first turning off any electronics that may make any noises that would ruin the narration, such as air conditioner and fans. I also used blankets and curtains to seal up the windows to prevent any additional environmental noises.
I record the narration using my phone as it has a built in voice recorder, with the help of the earphones with built in microphone, the voice became very clear and less background noise is caused. The next factor to worry about is the breathing noises that may be involved in the recording. We both remembered to not breath before speaking into the microphone, to make it easier we record each voice line by one sentence each to allow us to speak without breathing for a while.
The outcome is there are no breathing noise that can be heard throughout all the recorded audio. Now, the only thing to deNoise is the ambience noise which is inevitable. Luckily, the ambience noise is only in between all the voices, so deNoising these would be easy by highlighting the parts without voices, and reducing its volume until it cannot be heard.
